                                                                                                                        Dear visitor

                                                                                 welcome to my world!

I’m Despoina Filippidou (the “o” is silent) : a creative soul — a theater maker, performer, architect, singer, painter, woman, handcrafter, dog lover, baker, clowness, wannabe farmer.

Working with children, animals, citizens, immigrants, in communities. Working with myself, exploring life, respecting life and never stopping questioning it.
A multitasker who loves structure as much as chaos!

By now, I’m sure that in my veins runs the Blue of the sea and the sky. I’m often inspired by both, as well as by Greek, Balkan and Anatolian folk culture.
My biggest influencers so far have been my
grandma and grandpa.

As the hostess of this website, I’d like to thank you for being here and I promise you a safe trip into my mind.

Enjoy!

If the glimpse into my world intrigued you, here is a deeper look into how it all began and how the journey continues…

I was born in Athens and now live and create in Berlin, moving between theater and architecture. I work as a performer, director, designer and theater maker, exploring how space, form and movement meet on stage and in life.

Before fully focusing on the performing arts, I studied architecture in Thessaloniki and Prague, worked in studios in Athens and contributed to an architectural NGO, engaging with communities, schools and cultural groups through participatory design.

My artistic journey has always been multidisciplinary. I have explored theater through performing, set and costume design, but over time performance has become the heart of my practice. In 2017 I moved to Berlin to complete a full-time program at Arthaus Berlin, specializing in devised practice and performing arts. Since the beginning of my journey, I have continually explored the intersection of architecture and performing arts, seeking to blend these two worlds into a unified practice. Shapes and forms inspire my movement in the studio, while aesthetics play a significant role in each project’s creation.

This "experiment" continues to evolve, always open to new ideas, shifts and other creative dimensions.
